Students of Federal University of Lafia Express their joy over New Developments in the school.

During the reign of the former administration PDP, it was gathered that the former president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the year 2011 established 9 Federal Universities in 9 different states of the country. Namely:

1. Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State.

2. Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State.

3. Federal University Kashere, Gombe State.

4. Federal University Wukari, Taraba State.

5. Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina State.

6. Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State.

7. Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

8. Federal University Ndufe-Alike, Ebonyi State.

9. Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

But our major concentration on this news is focused on Federal University Lafia, now known as Federal University of Lafia, as trends on social medias most especially WhatsApp and Facebook has captured how excited the students of the university are towards a new development in the school when some pictures of the new development were uploaded on the social media.

The Federal University being one of the universities established by the former president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the year 2011 started operation in September 2012 with 247 students having Professor Ekanem Ikpe-Barde as its first Vice Chancellor.

Progress was gradually made since the school started operation, with the Administration block located in the Permanent site but most of the lectures were carried out at the Temporary site located at Mararaba-Akunza with two of the school most prominent departments also located in the permanent site: The Computer Science department and the Mathematics department.

The progress and development of the school has been gradual until the board saw the need to carryout effective work on the permanent site.

Faculties were built, more departments and lecture rooms/halls were built, the 500 seaters Theatre Art hall and lots more… and most of the lectures were then moved to the permanent site. And then students started and won’t stop complaining about the sloppy, muddy and slippery roads leading to their various lecture halls, department and faculties during the raining season nor the dusty roads during the dry season.

No wonder you can tell the level of excitement to see that what seems to be a problem has finally been attended to.

It is only but a  good news that the school didn’t relent in their efforts in giving its students the very best in terms of education and comfortability.

Major roads leading to the various faculties, departments and lecture rooms/halls has been solidly constructed.

The school and its current VC in the person of Prof. Muhammad Sunusi Liman appointed by the present President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR (RTD) are indeed working tirelessly to see to the development of this great institution.

The institution is also known for its excellence, great achievements and awards which we won’t be going into details, but reports gathered shows that it will soon own a teaching hospital as it has already started admitting students into its college of medicine.

We only hope for more developments as we are expecting that sooner than later, the school will actually rise to a quantitative/qualitative high standard of every other Federal Universities which have been in existence since ages.

Indeed, “I am now in the university” as one of the commenter stated.
