How To Prepare Nigerian Jellof With Less Than ₦1000
As we all know, the Nigerian jellof is a delicacy wanted by many, both far and wide because of it’s unique taste, nutritional value and easy cooking steps. The Nigerian jellof is a must in all occasions as some say, ‘There’s no party without jellof rice’. It is also one of the cheapest rice to prepare as a student, with less than ₦1000, you’ll have a plate of jellof all to yourself.
Today, I’ll be showing You how I make the Nigerian jellof with less than ₦1000. Firstly, the ingredients and their prices. (I stay in Northern Nigeria, so most of these ingredients are quite much for their prices)
Ingredients and Prices:
Groundnut Oil- ₦100
Green Pepper- ₦50
Curry and Thyme- ₦50
Seasoning cubes & Salt- ₦100
Total= ₦950. Recipe:
1.First, wash your meat. After washing, add curry, thyme, seasoning cubes and salt, then place on fire and allow to boil for 15minutes. When the meat is ready, remove it and keep the stock aside. 2.Place a pot on fire, add oil and wait till it’s hot. Add the meat you kept aside, fry till light brown and remove from the pot. Add your grounded onions, pepper and tomatoes and leave it to fry until it’s ready. 3.Measure and per boil your rice
4.When the stew is almost ready, add curry, thyme, seasoning cubes and salt to taste.
5.When the stew is ready, add the meat stock, curry, seasoning cubes and salt and allow to cook for 5minutes. 6.Add your per boil rice to the stew, mix and allow to cook for 30minutes or until it’s soft enough for You. 7.Serve with plantain or salad. If you’re not a fan of plantain or meat, you can decide to eat it plain. That’s all readers, seven easy steps to make your own Nigerian jellof.
