The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has detained a 40-year-elderly man recognized as Usman Isma’il for the supposed homicide of his 17-month-old stepson, Adamu Gambo, in Miga Local Government Area of the state.
The NSCDC representative in the state, SC Adamu Shehu, affirmed the occurrence to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Thursday. Shehu said the suspect, a resident of Tsakuwama Village was arrested by the NSCDC agents on September 3rd around 4pm, he also stated that the suspect supposedly took the deceased to a farm on August 14th where he choked him which led to his death.
The suspect tried to cover his evil act by claiming the boy died as a result cold but his wife suspected foul play as he had tried to strangle the boy multiple times in her presence because he disliked the boy but failed. After numerous interrogation by the Intelligence and Investigation team of the command he later confessed that he killed the boy because his wife stopped showing him love and attention.
The suspect would be charged to court after investigation is completed.
