Islamic New Year: Northern Christian clerics felicitate with Muslims scholars
…Calls for declaration of National holiday
A Northern Christian Cleric team congratulated all Muslims across the 36 federal states including Africa as they begin to mark the start of the new Islamic year, encouraging them to strengthen prayers for stability and reconciliation across the region and west Africa as a whole.
Pastor Yohanna Buru made the call when he was visited by a team of Muslim youth and scholars at his resident in Sabon Tasha, a Christian-dominated Southern Kaduna city.
The aim of the visit was to expand friendly ties with him and other Christian youth organizations that live in the region to create peace,
Every year, according to the Christian clerics, he normally sends thousands of peace messages to all his Muslim friends and friendship on Islamic New Year via his facebook page and social media.
Pastor Buru wished every Muslim in the state and around the world a happy Islamic New Year celebration and urged the people of the state to continue living in harmony and peace with tolerance and empathy in order to support the task of the government to foster peace and reconciliation among its people.
“Nigerian must demonstrate compassion, repentance and help the government spread the message of reconciliation, solidarity among its people and also support the government in resolving all types of ethno-religious, political and regional disparities, undermining the country’s reconciliation stability”
“We must congratulate our Muslim brothers who are celebrating their Happy New Year Today,” Buru said. “We should always remember that under one God we are one family.
“We come from one Adam and Eve family who serve one God,
“We both believed in heaven and hell, and in the day of resurrection;
“We all believe in the Holy Bible and the Quran, first of all we congratulate the Muslim umma around the world, and we expect to join them in the celebration to encourage religious freedom and pardon,” he said.
Buru further appealed to all Muslims to always consider the less fortunate in society, appealed to them to help orphans and widows and home orphans, while calling on Muslims and Christians to accept God’s unceasing prayers to put an end to all the problems of instability that threaten social preservation, economic growth, and so on.
He then called on the federal government to declare every day a new Islamic calendar as a holiday, while at the same time encouraging Muslims to mark their day with joy and happiness, adding that some Nigerian state has proclaimed today a holiday for people to mark the day in a specific way.
Likewise, Pastor John Joseph of Faith, Charismatic and Life Intervention Movement Sabon Tasha, called on all the people of Southern Kaduna to live in peace and harmony,
He said we need peace in the whole of South Kaduna and Nigeria,
The Rev and Evangelist of the Christ Evangelical Church in Kaduna also responded through a team of Christian leaders who engage with Muslim youth to foster unity among pastor yohanna residents, urged Muslims and Christian youth leaders to shun hate speeches and encouraged young people to live in peace and harmony at all times.
Mallam Gambo Abdullahi barnawa, who is one of the state’s youth leaders, said that celebrating the Happy New Islamic Year is not only for Muslims, but for all people, while thanking the Christian leaders for sending SMS to Muslim youth in congratulating them on the new Islamic Year.
