The Academic Staff Union of Universities, have bowed to soon expose those benefitting from the Integrated Personnel Payroll System of the Federal Government. The president of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, lade this known during and interview monitored by the Vanguard newspaper.

The university don was responding to the recent information emanating from the Federal Government, that only IPPIS compliant workers would be paid salaries. He expressed concern on why the Federal Government would impose the payroll system on them when they had put in place a better system which the government had agreed to.

He said that their agreement was that if the university could bring up a better and more effective system than IPPIS, it would be acceptable. Hence, they had evolved a more transparent and more effective system known as University Transparency and Accountability System (UTAS).

Mr Ogunyemi concluded that, there were some parasites that a benefitting unduely from the Integrated payroll system, and those are the people hawking and flaunting the system. He however, promised that soon, the illicit beneficiaries would be exposed to public shame.

On whether IPPIS is binding on  University staff, Prof Ogunyemi said that only circulars that are products of a collective bargaining between government and the university staff are binding on the lecturers.

The future of the university students is still bleak, even as the Federal Government has reopened schools because, ASUU are still on strike.
