President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting the security chiefs of Nigeria, as the security situation is worsening across the country.
Other at the meeting, apart from Mr Buhari, include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Chief of Staff to President Ibrahim Gambari, National Security Advisor Babagana Monguno and a few ministers.
The meeting is also attended by the representatives of the army , navy , air force, judiciary, State Security Service and the Strategic Intelligence Directorate.
The meeting is being held about a week after armed people assaulted Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy in Baga, a city with a history of attacks by Boko Haram.
However, Mr Zulum has said he thinks the soldiers carried out the attack.
The assault on the governor came around a day after at least one person was killed in attacks on Maiduguri by Boko Haram.
In addition to the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno and neighboring regions, armed bandits also randomly strike the northwestern regions, killing and kidnapping dozens of people each month.
In Southern Kaduna several people were also killed in renewed violence.
Any of such main security conditions are supposed to be addressed at Tuesday’s security meeting.
