The Ogun state police force arrested two herdsmen for supposedly raping and robbing a teenager. The suspects were identified by the Police as Abu Adamu and Muhammadu Aliyu.
The State Police PRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed in a statement that the suspects were detained after a call for help was made to their station at Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters by 1am. Mr Oyeyemi stated that the armed herdsmen invaded a farm at Afowowa Gbelu Village in Ewekoro and attacked a family living on the farm, the suspect searched the house of one Aminat Okeshola and parted away with the sum of N140,000 in cash.
After this they abducted the 16-year-old daughter of the family to a cassava plantation and took turns to rape and molest the teenager.
VILLA UPDATES learnt that policemen from Ewekoro division searched the farm and the entire area throughly and were able to arrest two suspects who were hiding in bushes when they saw the police men, while one escaped.
Oyeyemi also stated that the two cuffed suspects were immediately identified by their victims.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the herdsmen have always been passing through the farm settlement with their cattle in the day time before they came back to strike on the fateful day,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun, gave an order that the third suspect who ran away should be hunted down and brought to face the law, he added that the case would be moved to the State CIID for Investigation and prosecution.
