News has been broken in the early hours of Friday, that the Governor of Ekiti State, Governor Kayode Fayemi has been suspended by the State Executive Committee of the ruling All Progressive Congress. Channels Television reports that the Committee cited many sections of the party’s constitution, which found the Ekiti State’s first citizen guilty of anti party synicism. Report has it that Fayem had camped Femi Fani Kayode, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, at the Ekiti State’s government House, prior to the devastating loss of the Edo guber elections. The Ekiti State chapter of the APC, considers Fayemi working as a mole with FFK and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo Staye. Some of the allegations against the governor are reported below as reported by Pulse.ng :
1. “For five days prior to the Edo election, Gov Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode in the government house in Ado Ekiti. It was here they perfected the coup against our party in Edo State. “This is the same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party as well a vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting.
2. ”Fani-Kayode specifically said he has gone on his tour as part of an effort between him and Fayemi to build a cross-party alliance and few hours after leaving Ekiti he fired a shot at Asiwaju Tinubu.
3. “We also have evidence of celebration by his aides in the Ekiti government house and on social media,”
Apparently, this suspension is a high way to a face off in the Ekiti State’s APC, more so that this is a prototype of what transpired in Edo State where by a certain Obaseki who rode to the seat of governance on the chariot of Apc, dismembered himself from the party and was warmly received by the political fiend to cause devastating damage to the party.
The Ekiti State’s situation may be even more dangerous and easily aggravating, given that the state was previously a PDP strong hold having being ripped off in the most unscrupulous manner during an election that was marred by unprecedented irregularities. Therefore, suspending and persecuting Mr Fayemi will only expedite his cross-carpeting to the PDP.
With this suspension, Fayemi may play the ‘mad dog’s turning against its owner. Again, if Fayemi could truly influence the outcome of the Edo elections as alleged by the state executives, then the Ondo October elections may suffer the spill over of that defeat, especially that Ondo, unlike Edo, is a yoruba south West state; fertile ground for the tricky Fayemi to thrive.
If things continue to progress in such a political geometry, one can safely foresee this suspension as the last straw that will break the APC’s back. Edo is gone, meaning no more APC in Niger Delta. If Ekiti and Ondo subsequently go, then the southward spread of the APC will have diminished diminuendo.
