78 privately-owned universities insist that they were ready for resumption
State Minister for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, says that no date has yet been set for the resumption of full schools even though the Federal Government has continued to involve stakeholders.
Nwajiuba said this at the Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja Monday.
However, the minister expressed hope that the deadline for the resumption was “around the corner,” stating that “there will not be dates for the brandishing.”
He disclosed that earlier in the day on the issue he and the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, met with some of the stakeholders in tertiary education.
Nwajiuba said “about 78 private universities say they are ready for resumption” while government-owned universities only replied “50-50.”
He said he would return to the PTF to study the situation after aggregating feedback and then go ahead to make a pronouncement.
The minister encouraged tertiary institutions students protesting the continued closure of their schools to be a little more patient with the government.
